Hi Tom and welcome to Sweden and Gothenburg!

If you're looking for an apartment I would check the suburbs first, like
Kållered, Frölunda, etc. My brother movend here about a year ago and he
had no problems getting an apartment in Kållered.
About the job; like some one already mentioned Linux and OSS is gaining
popularity. I work for a large (+2500 empl.) company and we (the Uni*
team) use mainly Linux (RHEL) today, and lots of OSS. Virtulization
(XEN/VMWare is also hot), as is JAVA programming and system design.
At the moment the main demand is on the consultants market, so I would
check out the bigger companies like www.poolia.se, www.elanit.se,
www.sigma.se and the best job site (imho) is www.csjobb.se
Indeed there's a "Linux" related job there a few times every month.
If you specify in more detail or even better send me your CV in private
maybe I can give you a few pointers or even forward it to some ppl that
I know in above mentioned companies.

I get most of my hardware from www.komplett.se (shipping is dirt cheep
if you pick your stuff up at their storage, next to Centralstationen) or
www.inetdata.se on Hisingen. It's a bit off but really cheep if you want
your stuff the same day. (komplett is next day pickup)
I presume you don't need your pc/laptop preinstalled with Linux if
you're looking for a job as a Linux Sysadmin ;)
And speaking of IRL meeting, isn't it time for another gathering at Café
Java soon? :)

Hehe, and I have no idea what-so-ever what you're talking about. But
then again, I havent watched TV for over 5 yrs now :)
Hope we can be of assistance here, it's great that a Linux community
like LUGG can help out in this way :) It's a small world after all..
All the best,
